ENABLE – EMPOWERING NEXT – GENERATION ADVOCATES FOR A BETTER ENVIRONMENT
The ENABLE project is a comprehensive initiative aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, unanimously embraced by UN member states in 2015. It focuses on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that call for global cooperation to address poverty, healthcare, education, inequality, economic progress, climate change, and environmental preservation. This project underscores the need for unwavering commitment to combat the climate crisis with ambition and inclusivity. It emphasizes educating and engaging youth, who are particularly vulnerable to climate change, due to their diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Meaningful youth participation in climate action is essential, as it not only ensures the success of climate initiatives but also promotes youth development.
The ENABLE project seeks to understand and redefine youth participation in climate governance, addressing structural disparities and systemic discrimination. It pays special attention to marginalized youth, including girls, indigenous youth, and those facing social and economic challenges. The project targets individuals aged 18-30, fostering civic engagement and climate justice advocacy. It collaborates with youth organizations, NGOs, foundations, and public authorities in EU countries, contributing to global cooperation, sustainable development, and youth empowerment. ENABLE is a vital response to the climate crisis, emphasizing its urgency, interconnectedness with the SDGs, and the role of youth as change agents. It promotes inclusivity, civic engagement, and long-term sustainability, aligning with the call’s priorities and nurturing a generation of climate-conscious leaders dedicated to a sustainable future.
