OPEN MINDS

The general objective of the Open minds for better future project is raising the awareness of school pupils (aged 10-14) and teachers in project partner countries (Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria, Greece) about the necessity to fight discrimination, racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, including antigypsyism, anti-Black racism, antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred.

Specific objectives of the project are:

  • Raising awareness of citizens in project partner countries regarding necessity of fighting against discrimination and combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, including antigypsyism, anti-Black racism, antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred,
  • Strengthening the capacity and increasing knowledge and awareness of biases and stereotypes of 200 school teachers and 400 school pupils aged 10-14 from project partner countries through non-formal education on fighting against discrimination and combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, including antigypsyism, anti-Black racism, antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred,
  • Increasing the knowledge of 80 CSOs through organized round tables in project partners countries about EU and national non-discrimination legislation as well as administrative practices in the non-discrimination field, including practices and policies covering multiple discrimination,
  • Creating a network of main stakeholders (project partner organizations, elementary and secondary school teachers, local government, CSOs and educational institutions) to exchange examples of good practices in fight against discrimination and combating racism, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance, including antigypsyism, anti-Black racism, antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred.

Project OPEN MINDS is funded by the European Union through Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV). It will be implemented for 24 months (1 March 2024 – 28 February 2026). The coordinator of the project is the UDRUGA ECHO, Croatia, and the project partners are YOUTH SPORT CLUB VARNA, Bulgaria, THE SMILE OF THE CHILD, Greece and UISP Comitato Territoriale Sassari APS, Italy.
